The saner elements of both the Left and the Right apparently didn’t realize that there can be no compromise on the basic principles of liberty. It seems that even Thomas Jefferson didn’t seem to realize – or maybe he did but chose to evade the realization – of what government schools could grow to become.
To accept a little bit of altruism for a good cause for the common good (tax funded education in basic reading, writing, and arithmetic), means accepting the principle that a little bit of statism is also good for a good cause. If a little bit of altruism and statism is good then more is better and so it grows, until here we are 250 years later, at the precipice of full-blown socialism because as we are all taught from birth – “altruism and self-sacrifice for the common good is the highest of all moral principles”. But is it?

Waxing somewhat lyrical, a nationwide railway system for instance, wouldn’t have been possible with every entrepreneur using a different gauge of rail, and building wherever the land was cheap, even if it meant the railroad ran from nowhere to nowhere. And for another example, one doubts we’d have gotten very far without the interstate highway system; big time!
Defense of international borders also requires some government action and coordination (if I remember correctly.) And early on, some public schools used to do a great job – I bet some still do. Of course the good ones have a notable lack of 2nd, 3rd, and fourth assistant principals. And they don’t consider expertise in an academic subject to be an automatic disqualification of those who want to teach. But I digress.
The specious demoMarxocrat left is using the events of January 6 as part of its overall war against traditional American values and patriotic Americans. The quisling traitors moping around the GOPee voted to accept The Big Steal in overwhelming numbers on January 6th 2021 and haven’t done a damned thing to stop the persecution of their own constituents by the illegitimate and tyrannical junta that the GOPee voted to install on that terrible day. Voting for the GOPee expecting them to fix this nightmare world we now live in that they facilitated is insanity of the highest order.

The tragic case of Matthew Perna, and its terrible implications.
Imagine a country that imprisons peaceful protestors on false charges of participating in an attempt to overthrow the government, as part of efforts to discredit and ultimately criminalize all opposition to the ruling party’s agenda. People who entered a public building when police held the door open for them are being held in solitary confinement and given draconian punishments far out of proportion to what they actually did. This is the sort of thing that happens in Third World countries, right? This is the sort of thing tinpot dictators do in banana republics, where the rulers gained power by underhanded means and have no respect for due process, the rule of law, or the rights of their citizens – right? Maybe so, but all this and worse is happening right now in the land of the free and the home of the brave, where up until quite recently, it all would have been unthinkable.
Take, for example, the case of Matthew Perna, who traveled from his home in Pennsylvania to Washington on January 6, 2021, to protest the widely reported election irregularities, which only now are being confirmed by investigators. He pleaded guilty on December 9 to entering the Capitol and committed suicide on February 25, while awaiting sentencing.
Perna’s obituary tells an appalling story of injustice and railroading. Perna, it says, “attended the rally on January 6, 2021, to peacefully stand up for his beliefs.” He was no revolutionary or radical activist: “After learning that the FBI was looking for him, he immediately turned himself in.” What did he do on January 6 to attract the attention of the FBI? Nothing much: “He entered the Capitol through a previously opened door (he did not break in as was reported) where he was ushered in by police. He didn’t break, touch, or steal anything. He did not harm anyone, as he stayed within the velvet ropes taking pictures.” [-]
[+] … Perna’s aunt, Geri Perna, said of Matthew: “They broke him. They mentally broke him. He had run out of hope. I know he couldn’t take it anymore.” … In America, we no longer have a single justice system for all people, regardless of race, or of power, or privilege, or the protected victimhood status they may have among the Leftist intelligentsia. We no longer have a justice system that is indifferent to and independent of political pressure. The politically and culturally dominant Left is not content with the massive power and influence it wields now; it is determined to silence all opposition, and destroy it utterly.
… But now the schools focus on teaching that the Founding Fathers were evil slaveowners, and the system they created is just another vehicle of white privilege to be dismantled. By the time the fanatics they have indoctrinated get around to dismantling that system altogether, doing so will be just a formality. The Left has long since hollowed it out and rendered its safeguards meaningless. The persecution of the January 6 defendants proves that. [end]

Surprisingly, it appears that American people still feel safe. As much as they may understand that our own government has violated the 8th Amendment Constitutional rights of the Jan 6th protestors – including broken and suicide Matthew Perna – by the infliction of horrifying solitary confinement on people not yet even convicted of any crime – they really don’t think anything like that will happen to them.
That’s what those ordinary, paycheck-to-paycheck people that day at the protest thought too. Especially when the Capitol police led them on instead of stopping them.
Everybody getting mentally prepared now in case Putin attacks a NATO country to send your sons, brothers, husbands to shed their blood to protect those countries? So that our own government makes sure. . that they remain free? Jan 6 insanity the very heart of evil… Mmmmm.
