As someone mentioned on the comment thread .. “Bill seems to be reading Robert Heinlein, as these ideas are right out of “Moon is a Harsh Mistress” and the Republic of Bill is more and more like Texas.” For those of us already resident in Texas, that is a hearty AMEN indeed! The 18th largest economy on the planet, and we don’t have any full time politicians – NONE except the governor. The Legislature meets every other odd year for a total of 140 calendar days.
State legislators in Texas make $600 per month, or $7,200 per year, plus a per diem of $150 for every day the Legislature is in session (also including any special sessions). That adds up to $28,200 a year for a regular session (140 days), with the total pay for a two-year term being $35,400. The Republic of Bill sounds very familiar…
Now juxtapose the Republic of Bill with the current regime in Washington D.C., and this piece from Andrew Klavan which might be termed “NOT The Republic of Bill” .. Quite to the contrary, in fact, as this comment from the thread explains…
“Sad but true…and yes, very funny. I’m an African American woman so I hear it more than I care from close family and friends. My mom just came to visit and every time she talked about opposition to Obama in any form it was always because Congress is ‘racist.’ I had to speak to Obama’s moral integrity or lack thereof as a ‘Christian’ President. As I know on a daily basis from comments to my own pages, the Left won’t allow you the freedom to express your opinion and if you post an opinion they will give you a grammar lesson. Forget what Truth was in your post? They want to go personal and attack you in true Alinskyite Rules for Radicals fashion, and call you names. It’s a paid Soros poster to deflect and divert the post into a name calling pest fest. I’m not perfect, but people get the idea of what I’m saying and the comments thread does speak for itself sometimes. Keep telling the truth Patriots, keep telling the truth.
So there you have it .. The Republic of Bill, versus NOT The Republic of Bill. Which, in retrospect, would you prefer?
