Little Charlie vs Britain’s high court

Go ahead, make my…

As I write this, the parents of little Charlie Gard are at Britain’s High Court expecting the decision on Charlie’s fate at any moment, although I see the rolling news ticker-tape indicating “The judge has said it is ‘extremely unlikely’ a conclusion will be reached today.”

No matter. Little Charlie’s fate has already raised a lot of concerns lately as to how it has all been handled, and frankly, nobody comes away without being tainted in one way or another. The plain truth of the matter is that rationing is an inescapable result of a single payer, government~run healthcare scheme.

But the Charlie Gard case goes far beyond the question of rationing. This case is about government murder. Nothing more nor less than that ~ the overt, outright decision by bureaucrats to murder a baby just because they can, and in spite of possible treatments available and freely offered elsewhere. This is Evil. Pure and simple. Welcome to socialized healthcare…uh, government healthcare rationing, that is.

On the other hand of course, is in the United States the same thing is done with abortion – what is the difference between killing a baby before it’s born or after it’s born? Britain’s answer, provided by this case, is – absolutely nothing!

Take a read at this from Susan E. Bentley, a Brit, writing in American Thinker…

Today, I feel ashamed to be British.  Little Charlie Gard appears to be under a death sentence courtesy of Great Ormond Street Hospital and the British Courts, with the agreement of papers such as the Guardian, whose opinion is, as expected, “tripe” (that’s a British dish of offal).

The wonderful offers of help from all around the world have been awesome and deeply moving, and in today’s Daily Mail, Charlie’s mum explains how she first discovered her son’s condition.  I don’t know how anyone could be unmoved by such a story, and I am sure anyone who is a mother will understand about Connie Yates’s Mama Gard maternal instincts.

On Monday, July 10, Judge Francis said the family had until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12 to come up with fresh evidence that proves that an experimental treatment would be beneficial.  Sadly, that time is almost up.

The other thing that this story reveals, which disturbs me a great deal, is the current state of Great Britain.

Why can’t Charlie be taken out of the country for the treatment so kindly offered by President Trump and the pope? Apparently, the British courts have the final say and the family has been refused a new judge. I feel as though I have been asleep for many years and have suddenly woken up. During my Rip Van Winkle dozing, I have awoken to discover that I now live in a totalitarian state where the courts decide whether my child can live or die, where they can withhold medical treatment as and when they decide, where they can prevent treatment in another nation, where the rights of the individuals involved can be thrown on the floor and trashed like so much refuse.

My conclusion can only be that we are no longer Great Britain, but just another country being taken over by socialist despotic ideologues.

Britain long ago did away with executions in criminal cases, yet the High Court and the European Union has condemned this baby to death. The hospital and legal system in Britain is acting as judge, jury, and executioner – like God deciding who lives and who doesn’t. Those of us across the pond find it hard to understand why Charlie is doomed, despite his parents raising private donations and offers of help from the United States.

Yes, we understand that the experimental treatment might not work, but Charlie’s parents are already aware of that. The case of Charlie Gard illustrates very succinctly why We the People don’t want a similar-structured Obamacare or anything remotely like it in the United States.

This is what happens when a government thinks it owns the people, instead of the other way around:

• citizens lose life, liberty, and property without committing any crime
• the citizenry is replaced wholesale with friendly voters within hostile cultures
• the rights of free association and self-defense disappear
• future generations are involuntarily indebted to pay for present generations votes

When all is said and done, totalitarian socialism as practiced by the DemoMarxist Left stinks to high heaven. Absent God, our civilization is rudderless, and this is an example of the consequences of this moral and spiritual renunciation. The official conduct of this heartless jurist well reflects our degraded condition. Get used to more, or join the fight against it.

Each generation has its choices. Here’s to little Charlie…
