House authority to call out failures

Go ahead, make my..

Brilliant – absolutely brilliant – Rep Hank Johnson called his Republican colleagues “jackbooted thugs” at the hearing in NYC yesterday, the very same who worried 11 years ago that Guam would tip over if the Marine garrison were increased, the “gee-dee” fool likely still unaware that the description certainly applies to the DOJ and its DC branch – THAT!

It wouldn’t hurt right now, if within this very minute, the House should be defunding every activity even tangentially connected with ANY of these activities – since they already have the power they definitely don’t need “hearings” – they have that power already. Every court below the Supremes serves at the pleasure of Congress alone, and if the Senate doesn’t agree with zeroing out these budgets – right now, this hour – then the House can tell them to go pound sand, and shut down the whole government until they get their way.

At some point after all, unless we peaceably engage this battle now, we will have to fight about matters much greater than these – and it will no doubt, be violent, and bloody, and it will permanently break the existing social compact. Anyone would MUCH prefer our “Representatives” do this fighting NOW, using the peaceful instrumentality the Constitution provides – and definitely before the thousands of political prisoners in the DC Gulag rot of old age. Is yours truly the only one whose heart breaks for these Patriots?!

House authority to call out failures. Republicon-demoMarxocrat cabal. The enemies at the gate…

Tony_Petroski expresses it well on the thread: “McConnell is the player/coach of the Republicans in the Senate, those members who mimic the Washington Generals who are the patsies for the “winning” team, the Democrat Harlem Globetrotters. They all split-up the take in the locker room after the game. Even the public knows its a sham show but still puts up with it. THAT!”

Senator Chuck-Up “Six Ways from Sunday” Schumer is the player/coach of the Globetrotters, recently having demonstrated his power as he took to the Senate floor and called for censorship of the January 6th “tapes” and demanded Rupert Murdoch silence Tucker Carlson. Schumer’s demand was obeyed promptly and that’s the last we’ve seen of the Jan. 6 tapes. Pelosi has at least been sent to the back bench by the American People, yet coach McCarthy just can’t get his bearings, so strong is his tendency to play the role of grinning loser to the demoMarxocrat winners in these rigged contests. THAT!

Getting rich in the Swamp is a bi-partisan affair. Anyone threatening to slow the speed of the swill sluicing-down the tax-supported troughs must be taught their place. Some of us well remember “Professor Codevilla” warning us of this right here on American Greatness not too, too, long ago, and nothing changes until these judges – indeed a good many in the “legal” community – suffer the ultimate consequence. There must be a collective, “OMG, we really *ducked up” moment in the legal profession before we see these atrocities end. THAT!

Julie Kelly, American Greatness: ‘House GOP Needs to Take the Road Show Home’ ….

It’s fine to highlight the prosecutorial failures of Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. But the House GOP has more authority to call out the failures closer at hand.

The House Judiciary Committee held a raucous hearing in the Big Apple on Monday to discuss New York City’s rising crime problem. Republicans sought to highlight the poor performance of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who is refusing to prosecute various crimes as he instead pursues a criminal case against Donald Trump, and leaving a tide of victims in his wake.

It’s fine, and perhaps politically shrewd, for the GOP to shine a light on crime-enabling local prosecutors jeopardizing the safety of their cities in exchange for partisan witch-hunts. But for the next hearing, congressional Republicans need only walk a few blocks from their House offices to the office of Matthew Graves, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia.

Graves, the Biden campaign advisor who was appointed in 2021 to head what is arguably the most powerful U.S. Attorney’s office in the country, is accelerating the selective prosecution of Trump supporters for any involvement in the events of January 6 while at the same time declining to prosecute dangerous criminals in Washington, D.C. as the city descends into violent chaos. And unlike with Bragg, oversight of Graves is directly under the purview of Congress.

Graves is in the unique position of prosecuting both local and federal cases in the nation’s capital. Officials bragged in the Justice Department’s 2023 budget plan that Graves’ office “has undertaken an extraordinary effort to hold accountable those who engaged in criminal acts [on January 6] and is committed to using every appropriate tool to punish those criminal acts.” Congress subsequently approved a $34 million budget increase so Graves can hire at least 80 more attorneys solely for the purpose of prosecuting Trump supporters who protested Joe Biden’s election nearly 28 months ago. [-]

[+] … House Republicans added the hashtag #DemocratCrimeCrisis at the end of a promotional video posted on the House Judiciary Committee’s Twitter account on Monday. If members are planning to make this a tour of sorts, the next stop should be Washington, D.C., after Graves is subpoenaed to publicly testify.

Americans deserve to know why Graves is using federal resources to ramp up a clearly political prosecution aimed at Trump supporters; Washingtonians deserve to know why Graves is surging resources to prosecute meemaws from far away states who trespassed at the Capitol more than two years ago rather than go after repeat, violent offenders in their own city. And January 6 defendants deserve a public accounting of Graves’ inhumane, ruthless, and destructive conduct in office.

What Graves is doing is as unprecedented as Bragg’s criminal indictment of a former president but with far greater consequences. He is systematically criminalizing political dissent without any pushback from those in charge including federal judges and members of Congress. House Republicans need to change that without further delay. [end]

House authority to call out failures

Lydia on comments thread brilliantly expressed: “Many of the Jan 6 defendants are still incarcerated over two years later without trials. Defendants who had trials have received excessive prison sentences compared violent criminals living in DC. These miscarriages of justice must be investigated and rectified.

“We deserve to know why the supporters of President Trump are being politically prosecuted and treated differently than anyone else. We deserve to know why two thousand people who came to the Capitol to peacefully protest and ask that their grievances be addressed are treated differently than the rioters who burned cities in 2020. We deserve to know why every judge has denied a change of venue for trials in a city that is heavily biased against them. [-]

Congress definitely has the power to investigate. Congress has the power of the purse. Congressional representatives have taken an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. We the American people need answers and we need the House Judiciary Committee to stop the injustice occurring in this country and our nation’s Capitol. House authority to call out failures. It is their duty to ensure that justice is equally applied to all citizens and that our civil rights are not abused. We the American people support you. THAT!

And on that note, time for today’s MAGA Pill – Warrior-President Donald John Trump – MAGA! KAG!
