Fred2w reply to oldschool from comments thread: My wife and I met Lila Rose at a Value Voters Summit years ago. She came off as smart, sweet, and feminine woman. She was also unapologetic in wanting to end the Evil of abortion. Lila is as far from a pink hat wearing radical feminist as you can get.
I share her goals and applaud her passion. (Sidenote: femininity and passion are not mutually exclusive.) However, like too many conservatives, she doesn’t understand why federalism is necessary. Yes, we need to end the murder of babies via abortion. But the worst way to do it is through a federal ban.
The federal government is too big and oppressive as is. Passing a nationwide ban on abortion today will open the door to a federal law for every doctor to perform abortions tomorrow. Yes, fighting to end abortion state by state will be a long, gruelling process.
But those wins are more likely to stick while reducing the federal government’s power in the long term. [end]

A reasonably sharp uptick that the “culture of life” cannot be federally legislated, it must be morally taught and therein lies the real pox on our house. President Trump clearly believes in the right to life, but that’s not the issue. The issue is federalism. For better or worse, our system was/is/should be predicated on the idea that we make the best decisions about our lives at the lowest possible level. THAT!
A federal ban on abortion after six weeks for instance, is no better than the faulty SCOTUS decision that decided abortion on demand was a “right” in the first place. Lila Rose apparently is hollering for a central power with all the money and no brains to be the ultimate judge, which helps nobody and opens another flood gate of “federal” money, when we should – in all honesty – be DE-centralizing the whole government of this globalist empire, which should be shut down and a government of the union of the states created again for trade controls with an army that will actually protect this country again.
If somebody doesn’t put the brakes on, the nation is going to shatter. The big cities already look like Mogadishu, thus God help us if we keep spiraling downwards. The only thing that’s really going to help, is with our people growing up and taking responsibility for their own actions while putting their foot down when things get out of control. Otherwise one begins wondering whether we’ll make it to the other side of this mess we’re in or not. THAT!

President Trump outlined the platform policy of returning the issue of abortion to the states, and constructed all political endeavors to deliver on that pledge. President Trump was the first president to speak at the March for Life events in Washington DC and hold pro-life supporting events at the White House.
Additionally, President Trump appointed three conservative pro-life judges to the Supreme Court, with the intention of overturning the Roe -v- Wade decision and returning the issue of abortion to the states. This was and is the conservative position, and the goal of the pro-life movement as it was articulated. In 2022, in the Dobbs decision, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of overturning Roe -v- Wade and the abortion issue was successfully return to the states as promised.
Since entering politics, the position of candidate Trump and then President Trump has never changed. It is the same federalist position he holds today as outlined by the Washington Post:

Ms. Rose, in her official capacity as president of the Live Action organization appears to be influenced by the same billionaire donor class funding that supports the candidacy of Ron DeSantis. Despite President Trump delivering the results of the pro-life movement, Mrs. Rose is now deriding the President who delivered the outcome of her advocacy, saying it -and he- was just not good enough.
Example – In January 2018, President Donald Trump spoke to pro-life supporters from the Rose Garden at the White House which was shown live on video at the 45h annual March for Life. President Trump’s speech marked the first time in the event’s history that a sitting president had addressed the crowd live via video feed. Previous Republican presidents, including Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, spoke to the marchers by phone.
Try to find a picture of Ron DeSantis attending the Washington DC March for Life event and you will not find one. He never attended. However, in the era of billionaire manipulation, fake political constructs to manufacture astroturf support, and political grift that flows as an outcome of the ‘trillions at stake’, even the pro-life movement will align in their financial best interests against the most pro-life president in U.S. history.

Ms. Rose emphasizes that every human person is guaranteed due process and equal protection under the law. If one was to support this as a federal law, it seems like you would have to do this at conception, and not at 6 weeks as they just did in Florida.
Personally, most would love that but pardon my skepticism to see how that could happen in today’s world.THAT!
