Chrissy Matthews, host of his own show “Hardball” (mmmm) on MessNBC was less than amused when a staffer for the conservative Media Research Center approached him before the CNN Republican debate asking if he still had a “thrill up his leg.”
In 2008, Matthews famously said that he felt a “thrill up his leg” while covering then-Senator Barack Obama. Matthews’ open enthusiasm for the candidate was widely mocked, and contributed to the decision by MSNBC to pull him and Keith Olbermann from anchorage of political events.
Flash forward to the present, when that famous quote was thrown at the MessNBC host again. “I’m with the Media Research Center, we just want to know; how is your leg?” asked the MRC’s Dan Joseph.
“What leg?” a confused Matthews asked. “The leg with the thrill -” Joseph began. Matthews suddenly got it. “Just go to hell. Just leave me alone,” he responded. Libs hate to be defied as well as reminded of their failures and idiocy. “Go to Hell” is just a derivative of their usual childish retort, which is name calling like a second grader who stomps his feet when he doesn’t get what he wants. Reminder alert, reminder alert: “I have to tell you, you know, it’s part of reporting this case, this election, the feeling most people get when they hear Barack Obama’s speech. My, I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don’t have that too often.” (mmmmm)
Reminder alert Two, New York Times columnist David Brooks, same show: “I remember distinctly an image of – we were sitting on his couches, and I was looking at his pant leg and his perfectly creased pant, and I’m thinking, a) he’s going to be president and b) he’ll be a very good president.” David Brooks claims to be a NY Times “conservative” columnist. Although he has never endorsed a Republican or written positive about a conservative in his lifetime. But O my, those “perfectly creased pants” and who knows where else his mind was wandering?
As Reverend Wright might put it, with the collapse of OBO the Clown Prince of Fools and his presidency, media chickens are coming home to roost, MessNBC’s Chris Matthews and the Dowager’s David Brooks foremost amongst them, and it couldn’t happen to nicer guys .. Guess it’s cue-time for the late great B.B.King and “The Thrill is Gone” …
