Go Ahead, Make …
On this, the eve of yet another Fourth of July celebration of the Constitutional Republic of the United States, I bring you an edited excerpt from Chapter Five of America on the Cusp of God’s Grace which I researched and wrote during 2008/2009 and had published in November 2010. This is one of the more sobering chapters in the book, because it reveals the powerful insights of one of the founders into the evil spirit and heart and soul of the “common man” and how exposed we all are to a declining respect for the country we serve. The liberal-leftist-Alinskyite-DemoMarxist ideology that has been allowed to flourish in America since 1954, has, in the past week, reached its zenith with a rogue fraud “president” and his rogue fraud SCOTUS of 9 black-robed executioners shredding the very Constitution that the Founders fought so hard to establish as “the Law of the Land.”
America unfortunately is not (on recent evidence) a Constitutional Republic any more – far from it. Over the past 60 years we have allowed the forces of evil to infiltrate the very halls of government and judiciary, to the end that We The People are being ruled by tyrannical fiat, and not by the Legislative Branches of government. In the next 18 months, We The People will have one last chance to turn this nation back to God, the way the Founding Fathers intended it and brought it forth to be, upon the pillars of righteousness; the Triune Godhead; the Holy Bible; the Ten Commandments; the power and presence of the Holy Spirit; and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The fire of Revival needs to burn brightly in this land once again. May God forgive us all for our many sins and iniquities, and may he lay his blessings upon our nation once again. Monday, July 1st 1776 Philadelphia
This morning is assigned the greatest debate of all. A declaration, that these colonies are free and independent states, has been reported by a committee some six weeks ago for that purpose, and this day or tomorrow is to determine its fate. May heaven prosper the newborn republic. We are in daily expectation of an armament before New York, where, if it comes, the conflict may be bloody. The object is great which we have in view, and we must expect a great expense of blood to obtain it. But we should always remember that a free constitution of civil government cannot be purchased at too dear a rate, as there is nothing on this side of Jerusalem of equal importance to mankind. ~ John Adams
Tuesday, July 2nd 1776 Philadelphia
The second day of July 1776 will be the most memorable epocha in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the Day of Deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other from this time forward for evermore. You will see in a few days, a Declaration setting forth the causes, which have impelled us to this mighty revolution, and the reasons that will justify it in the sight of God and man, in which unfashionable as the faith may be, I firmly believe. ~ John Adams
And thus, the United States of America came into existence. Weeks of debate and wrangling; days of write and re-write; hours of impassioned point and counter-point; anxious minutes of vote and re-vote, culminating in the momentous events of July 4th 1776, when the approved, final draft of The Declaration of Independency was signed by the President, John Hancock, and the Secretary of the Congress, Charles Thomson.
The two letters that John Adams penned, the first to Archibald Bulloch, the second to his wife Abigail, clearly and distinctly outlined the enormous responsibility that Adams himself felt, towards the actions that he and his fellow-Congressmen had ultimately committed their lives, fortunes, and futures to. The seamless connection between God’s providence and the future of America’s greatness, was not lost on Adams. His mention of Jerusalem, and his inferred reference to God’s bearing and presence upon the future affairs of the new republic, was more than a perfunctory scholarly nod to where the real center of power resided on the planet.
As an astute student of history, John Adams knew very well the pitfalls that led to the destruction and downfall of the great empires. As is remarkably evident from this early letter to his cousin Nathan Webb, a youthful nineteen-year-old Adams, a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in Worcester, Massachusetts, had a grasp of America’s destiny decades before the Declaration of Independency:

All that part of Creation that lies within our observation is liable to change. Even mighty states and kingdoms are not exempted. If we look into history, we shall find some nations rising from contemptible beginnings and spreading their influence, until the whole globe is subjected to their ways. When they have reached the summit of grandeur, some minute and unsuspected cause commonly affects their ruin, and the empire of the world is transferred to some other place.
Immortal Rome was at first but an insignificant village, inhabited only by a few abandoned ruffians, but by degrees it rose to a stupendous height, and excelled in arts and arms all the nations that preceded it. But the demolition of Carthage (what one should think should have established it in supreme dominion) by removing all danger, suffered it to sink into debauchery, and made it at length an easy prey to Barbarians. England immediately upon this began to increase (the particular and minute cause of which I am not historian enough to trace) in power and magnificence, and is now the greatest nation upon the globe.
Soon after the Reformation a few people came over into the new world for conscience’ sake. Perhaps this (apparently) trivial incident may transfer the great seat of empire into America. It looks likely to me. For if we can remove the turbulent Gallics, our people according to exactest computations, will in another century, become more numerous than England itself. Should this be the case, since we have (I may say) all the naval stores of the nation in our hands, it will be easy to obtain the mastery of the seas, and then the united force of all Europe, will not be able to subdue us.
The only way to keep us from setting up for ourselves is to disunite us. Divide et impera. Keep us in distinct colonies, and then, some great men in each colony, desiring the monarchy of the whole, they will destroy each others’ Influence and keep the country in equilibrio. Read from a span of 250 years, Adams’ prophetic words could well have been written just yesterday.
The only way to keep us from setting up for ourselves is to disunite us. Divide et impera (or in English, “Divide the empire, or as it is most commonly quoted, Divide and Conquer”).
Forces are at work within the United States, (and have been for the past fifty years) to disrupt and destroy the very fiber of our society. America, bastion of freedom and free enterprise, is at once a haven for the down-trodden from despotic regimes, and yet a threat to those very regimes in that it represents what life and liberty are all about; individual freedom; individual responsibility; a God-given right of free will, wherein each and every person on the globe has the freedom to make decisions for God, or against God.
Postscript
”Divide and conquer,” the strategy that has been used by marauding dictator armies since the dawn of time. The root of Divide et Impera? “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day that ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
This turning point in human history, from the pages of Genesis 3:4-5, has had ramifications through the millennia right up to the present time. Satan drove a wedge between man and God that has persisted to this day, culminating in not so much a ”separation of church and state” but a separation between man and God.
In this first part of America On The Cusp Of God’s Grace, we have been witness to the devil’s wiles in attempting to thwart God’s worldwide plan of salvation. We have also been witness to the power of faith, and how important it is in driving the human spirit towards the overwhelming presence of God’s Holy Spirit. The seeds of freedom can never be supplanted, since they are entwined into the DNA of every human being. This will become more evident as we move on to Part Two, A Constitutional Republic.
