God chose Trump and we must, too

En Garde in the bunker…

‘The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.’ ~ Psalm 14: 1-3

Throughout the span of human history God has always and forever made use of imperfect vessels to carry out his will. Just this past couple of days in my SONday blog I featured that very topic, based solely on the character and behavior of David – ‘a man after God’s own heart’.

Well, lo and behold, as if today I didn’t come across a similar sentiment from James Arlandson in American Thinker and his piece boldly titled ‘God Chose Trump’; and what a wonderfully-refreshing article it is too, as you will see for yourself coming up.

But first, and coincidentally foremost, the President and First Lady hosted a dinner event last evening at the White House with a host of evangelical leaders in attendance, and it was spectacular, if not humbling. I’ve always had the feeling that being in the presence of a host of Godly leaders is a treasure to behold, while uplifting and emboldening at the same time.

Take a look and listen to the president’s remarks…

The miracle of the Constitution is that it can give We the People the likes of both Obama and Donald Trump; evidence that We the People are the government, that we can destroy ourselves or save ourselves with the vote. THAT is freedom. And as it stands right now, we have chosen to save ourselves and the Constitution from a disastrous former administration.

In simplistic terms, if God avowed the Israelites to be captive in Mitzrayim (Egypt) for 400 years and then led them 40 years to the Promised Land (drowning their enemies in the Red Sea during the process) he can definitely inflict Obama on us for eight years and then free us with PDJT, while crushing the enemy Leftists in the process.

Let’s go to James Arlandson and his opener from ‘God Chose Trump’…

When Trump tweets something, the Self-Righteous Indignation Brigade demand that Christians immediately drop their support of the president.  If we don’t, then somehow we have lost our integrity or compromised our faith.  Isn’t that obvious?

No. Here’s why. I used to be a harsh Trump critic and a NeverTrump, writing various articles in a mocking, condescending style (I won’t link to them). Through a series of circumstances and listening to various people in my church tradition and just observing, I changed my mind. So I decided to flip this question 180 degrees. How could God use a man with such a deficient character as Trump’s?

That question is easily dispensed with. The Bible is full of heroes of the faith who had moral defects. It is time to disabuse ourselves of the notion that the presidency is sacred, in the sense that biblical and European monarchs underwent le sacre (sacred royal anointing and crowning). John Adams was laughed out of court, so to speak, when he suggested that the president take the title “His Excellency.” This was not a far-fetched proposal, because that title appears everywhere in seventeenth-century colonial government documents.

Bottom line: God can accomplish his purposes even with imperfect vessels. So I flipped the first question to this corollary opposite question:

What if God set up this whole Trump phenomenon?

Is it possible to see God at work nowadays with the Trump presidency? We need a Christian analysis of current events, so absent today, based on our constitutional founding in the late eighteenth century and some old-fashioned biblical principles. The answers are not clear in their details so far, but some sketchy lines are beginning to emerge.

Let’s accept these premises, as tens of millions of Christians do:

1.God has raised up America as she was constitutionally founded to offer maximum liberty: streamlined, without a gigantic government to limit our freedoms.

2. America has been blessed because of the gospel going around the globe, to be a beacon of light.  If she loses her religious freedom, the gospel suffers, and so does humanity.

3.The liberal left, for whatever warped reasons, intends to transform America from how she was constitutionally set up in the late eighteenth century.

4.Throwing monkey wrenches into the streamlined Constitution, the left opposes the way God ordained this nation to run. Now, how does Trump conform (or not) to those premises?

Bottom line is that God aroused a righteous remnant to understand what the stakes were in this country by getting them to the prayer rails. The prayer movement roused regular Americans who were fed up with being marginalized and demonized.

  • Obama was the destroyer.
  • We saw a press promote lies about this guy on every level.
  • We saw the most “uncurious” press in history not even delve an inch into his background.
  • We saw race relations shattered.
  • We saw an American president badmouth this country, mess up the Middle East even more than it already was with Bush, and allow the growth of ISIS and the destruction of Christian and minority communities in the ME.
  • We saw an agenda of destruction in so many ways, and people got mad when they saw their country being destroyed.

I could go on. Yes, I believe Obama was put in there for a reason.

And I believe even more, that President Donald J. Trump was, still is, God’s man in the breach until this mess is clearly sorted. MAGA!

‘Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LordThere were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous. Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the Lord is his refuge. Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the Lord bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.’ ~ Psalm 14: 4-7
