George Orwell’s 1984 Here in 2016

En Garde In The Bunker

En Garde In The Bunker

We the People of the United States will not be controlled, we will not conform, we will not submit. On the other hand of course, some of us as individuals will resist the control, eventually being targeted as enemies of the state (ie once the state takes notice of us; Lois Lerner and the “Cincinnati Office” come to mind for anyone?). Like Winston in George Orwell’s 1984, some will see the inside of Room 101 until they eventually submit freely to being controlled. Mind-controlled, that is. In a great thought-provoking article coming up from Michael Cutler, former Senior Special Agent of the now-defunct INS, the content mirrors very well what millions of us see every day from the loony left; brainwashed superior cultists in every way, oblivious to the hypocrisy of many of their arguments, let alone the fallacies.

An example of this is leftists acting as if Christianity or belief in God is a form of brainwashing or even child abuse. On the one hand they believe in aborting their children, yet see no hypocrisy in telling others how to raise theirs. Their simplistic brainwashed minds feel superior even when there is no evidence of superior intellect; kind of like a “Bill Nye the science guy” thinking he is a true scientist. The group think mentality is astounding and they will govern our very underwear drawers if we let them!

Although I haven’t seen anyone try it in recent lurkings around the Left’s “news” sites, the most egregious example of leftist NewSpeak I came across was back when Huffpost had an anonymous proprietary comments system. A favorite thing for some of the genuinely Communist commentators then was to both attempt to delegitimize anti-Semitism and appropriate it. In spite of the fact that many on there casually flung around the debunked Khazar myth of the Ashkenazim’s origin, they loved to claim that Arab antisemitism didn’t exist because Arabs were just as Semitic as the Jews. On top of that some even tried to appropriate the term as a way to “defend” Muslims from “Islamaphobia” by using the same rhetorical line. As stated above, the group think mentality is astounding!

As an example of Cutler’s essay, consider the First Amendment of the Constitution:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

“Now let’s consider how far we have fallen in just a few short years.”

“The term “Alien” has been all but expunged from any discussions about immigration.  This lunacy began under the administration of Jimmy Carter who mandated that INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service) employees stop using the term alien to describe illegal aliens.  The term alien is hardly a pejorative.  The term “alien” is a legal term that is defined in our immigration laws.”

George Orwell "1984"...

George Orwell “1984”…

“Alien” is nothing; how long has it been since you last used the term “gay” to mean “happy and carefree” without pausing in your mind before you uttered that word? Here’s a short list of my own NewSpeak that I see coming up in not too short a time…

New NewSpeak entries:

  • Microagression: Safe Space. Racist. Islamophobia. See it? It’s so obvious, yet so subtle. These are either new words altogether, or manufactured words to control conversation and produce conformity.
  • Christophobia: describes those who oppose Christianity directly or indirectly, by whatever force available.
  • Subversivist: one who enters a group with deliberate intent to undermine the group.
  • Truthophobe: someone who opposes statements of truth because there IS no absolute truth.
  • Vaporist: one who turns to vapor when confronted by direct opposition, only to resolidify somewhere else.
  • Slanderizer: one who creates or manufactures a false grievance or complaint in a subversivist manner, to defame the name of a movement or organization. Often used by Christophobic and Truthophobic talking heads on television.

And so on and so forth. Winston Smith would be so proud!

On to Michael Cutler and “America Now Has an Official Language”…

frontpage_logoGeorge Orwell’s political novel “1984” painted a disturbing but all too prophetic image of how a totalitarian government would come to rule its citizens with an iron fist.  Language — that is to say, the deceptive use of language — was a critical element of the government and the dystopia it created that Orwell described.

In Orwell’s thriller, electronic surveillance conducted by the omnipresent “Big Brother” was a major factor, as was the development and implementation of a language, Newspeak, that was devised to control thought over time by eliminating words from the vernacular.  When words were eliminated, thoughts and concepts those words represented would be eliminated.

Furthermore, terms to describe government agencies were often the opposite of what their respective missions were. The editing process of published material, especially by rewriting history books and employing propaganda, was the domain of the Ministry of Truth. The omnipresent Party understood that “who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.”

The contradictorily named, “Ministry of Love” tortured citizens to coerce their unflagging and uncompromising compliance with the dictates of the government.

The world in which the residents of 1984 resided was a world of deception and lies where “up” was “down” and “right” was “wrong.”  In the words of the official slogan of the Ministry of Truth:
